We Called it First, Brad Miller Uncommitted No More!

Repbradmiller_2  On Wednesday,  KCC scooped the drive-by (mainstream) media on the fact that Brad Miller's wife was cheering behind Obama at his victory rally held Tuesday at NC State University.

Wednesday, Miller flat out lied to WPTF-AM reporter, Mike Blackman, when Miller denied that he had made a decision on who he would be endorsing and voting for as a Super-delegate,

Thursday, Miller officially endorsed Obama.

Essentially Miller's hand was forced.  Thursday, long after KCC had reported it, both the News and Observer and The Insider both wrote about the situation regarding Miller's wife, Esther Hall.   No surprise to this blogger on Miller's choice.  If his wife was there, surely the Congressman wouldn't be far behind.

Essentially he stuck his finger in the wind, saw it was blowing towards Obama, and "endorsed" him.  What a courageous stand by Congressman Miller!

Katy's Conservative Corner is supporting  Hugh Webster in November!  Hugh Webster won't be afraid to make the tough decisions.

Fred Smith's Concession Speech

State Senator Fred Smith formally conceded the Republican gubernatorial primary race to Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, Tuesday evening.  For all you Fred-heads, here are his gracious remarks, as filmed by yours truly.

You'll have to forgive the reporters, but there were some silly questions that were asked.  Also the camera was a bit shaky as your blogger was bumped about.

The worst reporters' questions were cut out to keep the video runtime to under 10 minutes.  At 10 minutes, it's a little long, but so many of you have asked for it, your blogger stayed up extra late editing it for you.

Please note, your blogger called Tom at the McCrory communications department today and has offered any help we can.  We must all pull together if we are to best Beverly Perdont and the Democrats in the Fall.

Note of Thanks by Joe McLaughlin

Joe_mccain_sign_3 Dear Friends,

As most of you know by now, the numbers were not in our favor last night.  I cannot fully express my disappointment not for myself, but for all of you who so enthusiastically supported me.

On behalf of myself and my family I thank you for a year filled with much hope and promise.  I am only sorry that you were not rewarded for all your hard work.

Thank you again and please continue to support those candidates who value conservative principles.

Joe

Editor's Note:  Joe McLaughlin was on the losing end in the 3rd Congressional District primary with Rep. Walter Jones in Tuesday's primary. Katy's Conservative Corner thanks Joe for running and bringing attention to important issues.

Rep. Brad Miller Caught in Lie - Not Uncommitted Superdelegate - KCC exclusive

Liar_miller_2  Today at noon, while your blogger was driving to pick up her son at pre-school, she heard Congressman Brad Miller (D-NC, 13th Dist.) spouting his usual mixture of lies and mistruths on WPTF-AM radio.

In an interview with reporter Mike Blackman, Miller stated that he was an undecided super delegate.

After securing her son in the car, your blogger called Blackman to offer him a scoop.  Brad Miller had flat-out lied to him.  Miller couldn't be an undeclared super delegate.  His wife, Esther Hall, was seen on national television standing behind Barak Hussein Obama, in Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of NC State University.

She was cheering as hard as any high school cheerleader, yet Miller says he's uncommitted?

Esther Hall is a nice lady, but is very left-of-center.  Like most political couples, your blogger is sure they agree on the issues.

When KCC told this to WPTF's Blackman, he sounded annoyed and angry that he had been handed this "tip".  Further, he never followed-up to share this tip with his listeners.

Is this more of the drive-by media that Rush Limbaugh speaks of?  We think so.  This small incident is just one more example of how the media refuses to report the truth. It also serves as yet another example of what liberal politicians will say and do to get re-elected.

McCrory Wins GOP Primary, Smith Promises Party Unity

100_4249_4 While the party was rocking at the Pat McCrory campaign hotel in Charlotte Tuesday, things were a bit more subdued at the Fred Smith party at the Hedingham Golf Club in Raleigh.  At one point, over 11 microwave and satellite trucks were there to record the event, live.

The crowd was upbeat, though sensing that the campaign was over.  Smith, known for feeding a crowd, didn't disappoint with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and the like.  Meanwhile, the several hundred onlookers watched on numerous big screen televisions.

At 9:36, Smith campaign consultant, Ted Brown, a friend of your bloggers from our Jim Gardner days, let KCC know that Senator Smith was on his way down to concede.  Smith and his family were poised and proud of the race they'd won, even though they had been beaten.

The mainstream, uneducated media, asked the usual silly questions, such as "what went wrong" to which Smith replied he was simply "beaten by a stronger candidate."

100_4222 Smith immediately pledged to do "whatever Pat needs me to do" in his concession speech to the Charlotte Mayor. He told the crowd that he'd already called Mayor McCrory and wished him well.

On Wednesday at noon, the four former GOP gubernatorial candidates will appear together at NC Republican Party Headquarters in a show of party unity.

Meanwhile, Democrat nominee Beverly Perdue, told WRAL that "we know what (dirt) the Republicans are capable of and I'll be deciding our strategy in the coming days".  Heck, KCC wishes to warn the McCrory team what Perdue and her team are "capable of".  Your blogger hopes that the McCrory campaign will be ready for the dirt and nastiness that Perdue's folks will spread around throughout the campaign.

100_4227 Expect her to return to her "positive campaign" the minute she feels something hurtful is about to be revealed.  Purdue, like most of us, is no saint, but she's tough as nails and will now bow under pressure.

The problem for McCrory will be how to go after a woman respectably.  This is still North Carolina, once known as the Rip Van Winkle state.  Many old south-style male voters don't like a gentleman calling a "lady" on the carpet or making life unpleasant for her.  It was a problem for Erskine Bowles when he faced off against Elizabeth Dole six years ago, and it will be a problem for McCrory this time.

McCrory has Jack Hawke on his team, and Jack is an experienced professional, one who this blogger has long admired.  KCC looks forward to helping McCrory going forward, but provides a look back with photos taken at the Fred Smith party on Tuesday evening.

Elizabeth Dole's female advantage was neutralized on Tuesday when Kay Hagan defeated Jim Neal for the Democrat nomination for US Senate.

Later this week, we will post the entire Smith concession speech, along with his pledge for party unity.  Smith later added that "on the campaign trail, we all became friends."

SEANC Goes to the Dark Side - Now an Official UNION

Voteunion According to today's News and Observer, the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) has gone union.  The paper reported that they are now affiliated with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a national labor union known to wear purple t-shirts.  Incidentally, SEIU is backing Barack Hussein Obama.

The paper also reports "SEANC hopes to use the resources of SEIU to fight a 1959 law that keeps state workers from bargaining collectively.  Currently, North Carolina is the only state in the union that that prohibition."

No_unions The group, now known as SEANC SEIU Local 2008, doesn't need collective bargaining.  These people have jobs that rarely get cut or go away.  They are not subject to the market forces such as those who work in the private sector.

Your blogger constantly hears state employees complain about what they DON'T have.  Their moral is low.  These folks could always quit their jobs and work in the private sector like most people, but they feel they must stay to get their full retirement benefits.  Having a job you love is much better than working in one you hate for your entire working life.

Seiuobamalk Your blogger was briefly a member of SEANC when she worked at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT) during the Jim Martin administration.  A close friend was a team leader in SEANC and convinced KCC to join.

Once, your blogger became enlightened on exactly what conservatives were already calling a union, she called DOT payroll to drop out.  Your blogger got the typical state government run-around and it took six months to quit SEANC.  All the while, they kept drafting their "dues" out of KCC's paycheck.  It was maddening.

We later found out where our dues had been going.  SEANC had a huge yearly party in Charlotte for its leadership, and our money was going to buy booze and other such "fun" for a bunch of Democrat state employees.  That, and we got a newsletter.

After we were finally removed from the membership rolls, SEANC voted itself the right to endorse candidates, nearly all from that left of center party.

Now most elected officials join SEANC right away, so they won't look like Johnny-Come-Latelys when going after the SEANC vote during their re-election campaigns.  This is especially true of judicial candidates who must run in non-partisan races.

Toss away all your old purple t-shirts and show that you don't support this or any union.

Conservative Court of Appeals Judges Need Your Vote

Jtyson Attention North Carolina conservatives!  Conservative candidates running for the North Carolina Court of Appeals need your help.

These candidates are at the bottom of the ballot and there will be many local judges, along with the statewide races, on your ballot on Tuesday.  To help avoid confusion, Katy's Conservative Corner has done some of the work for you.

Anyone voting on either the Democratic or Republican ballot may cast a vote for these candidates.

The conservative judges running in primaries tomorrow are:

Tyson Seat: Vote ONLY for John Tyson (above).  Ignore all other names on the ballot.  Judge Tyson was previously endorsed by your blogger.

Wynn Seat: Vote for both Jewel Ann Farlow or Dean Poirier.  Do not vote for any other names on the ballot. They have both been endorsed by the NC GOP. Voting for both names, that will ensure that a Republican will take the seat in November.

THERE WILL BE NO R's OR D's to designate party affiliation on the ballots this year.  (Due to a new, unfair law passed by the liberal General Assembly.)  Thus, you must know the names of your judicial candidates before you enter your polling place.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are working hard for their candidates.  In his weekly e-letter, Jerry Meek shared a website with his readers dedicated to the "NC Democratic Judges".

After the Primary is over, your blogger will place such a site online.  We've already purchased the domain names, so watch this site for an announcement!

Mumpower Thanks Volunteers, Earns KCC Endorsement

Carl_mumpower_2  Your blogger meant to formally endorse Dr. Carl Mumpower in his race to take on Congressman Health Shuler (D-NC, 11th District), but due to various issues, is only now getting to it.

We strongly endorse Mumpower and encourage all citizens of the 11th Congressional District, (Western NC) to vote for him on Tuesday.

Mumpower has been a source of conservative strength on the far left city council in Asheville.  Many have been drawn to him as a voice in the wilderness for straight talk and straight answers.  Your blogger first met Mumpower in October and was immediately drawn to his optimism, personal strength, and intellect.

Though he has two opponents in Tuesday's primary, none of these men can hold a candle to Dr. Mumpower.  He deserves your vote.

Dr. Mumpower sent along this message to his supports and we gladly reprint it below:

Candidate for State Supt of Public Instruction Campaining Until The Polls Close

Eric Smith, one of three candidates running for GOP nomination for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will begin his primary day with a talk with the Wake County Republican Men's Breakfast at the Top of the Town Restaurant, in the Clarion Hotel, 320 Hillsborough Street, in Raleigh. (The Clarion was known as the round Holiday Inn for years.)

At 9:00, he will campaign for the rest of the day at a polling place located within Apex Baptist Church.

Katy's Conservative Corner has previously endorsed Eric Smith over his two rivals, 26-year-old anti-gun Joe Johnson, and disgraced former co-speaker of the NC House, Richard Morgan.

Log Cabin Republicans Endorse BJ Lawson in 4th District GOP Congressional Race

In the race to see who gets the opportunity to take on Congressman David Price (D-NC, 4th), BJ Lawson has received an endorsement from the Log Cabin Republicans. Log Cabin Republicans are a group of gay Republicans that believe President Lincoln was homosexual. Their politics vary from the very conservative to the liberal, based on individual beliefs.

Gay Your blogger was copied on the mean-spirited e-mail to Augustus Cho, below:

From: Log Cabin Republicans of North Carolina

Dear Augustus Cho:

Did you forget something?

Details?  Details?

Hate to break it to you, but that is what Washington is all about.

While you were confusing having unquestioned patriotic hubris with true loyalty while downing martinis at a Seoul Korea bar in one of your recent blog postings, the Log Cabin Republicans of North Carolina were reading B. J. Lawson's thoughtful writings.

Though some of us at Log Cabin Republicans of N.C. like you have been in bars in our time, we certainly don't condone this type of behavior.

So, we're voting for LAWSON.

JOIN US AT:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LCRNorthCarolina/

EDITOR'S NOTE: Your blogger is not involved in this contest, nor any congressional race. KCC thinks there is a hint of racism here, referring to South Korean bars and ugliness by implying that Cho is a heavy drinker.  We didn't think a group of gay Republicans, who have their own battles to fight for acceptance, would stoop so low.

Libtards We do understand why they would endorse BJ over Augustus.  As a closeted Libertarian, who has been a registered Republican all his adult life, BJ probably has a more "live and let live" approach to gay issues.  However, your blogger has warned in the past that followers of former Presidential candidate, Ron Paul, are trying to take over the GOP

Paul, who once ran for President as a Libertarian, leads a huge movement.  Known by their detractors as "RonTards", they are trying to take over the Republican party at every level in an attempt to force Ron Paul's candidacy onto the floor at the National Republican Convention in July.

Conservatives have been lucky that these Ron Paul followers have not been educated in the mechanics of party politics at any level and they have found it difficult to earn delegate spots for the national GOP convention.

These slots were up for grabs at the recent district conventions that were held across NC and the US.  This, most certainly, will not be the case in the next national election cycle.

KCC is saddened by this attempt by Libertarians to take over our once Grand Old Party.  These people had their own party.  It failed, and now they are out to ruin the Republican Party, too.  Do us all a favor, and hook up with the Democrats first.

New Feature for KCC

Twitter_2 Katy's Conservative Corner has added a new feature, called Twitter

On the right panel, just under the "e-mail me" link, there is a section where your blogger can add thoughts via her cell phone.

These posts do not come out in the regular e-mail and RSS feeds that are produced with this blog.  However, Twitter posts are updated more often than is this blog.

100_4143_2 For example, today, sitting on the beach,  I "twittered" from my cell phone, and discussed how sitting on the beach was the perfect cure for the stress of constant robo calls and Obama ads.

Currently, your blogger is handicapped and cannot walk well or for any long distance and surgery is forthcoming. Thus, rushing to the phone for the robo calls is annoying, thinking it could be an emergency call from my son's pre-school, or a member of my family. (That's another blog post in itself!)

So, it was nice to get away and watch my toddler (above) and husband play on the beach while I relaxed in a special chair.  (Under most circumstances, I would have spent this weekend working for one of the down ballot candidates this election cycle, but it was nice to skip it, just for once!)

To learn more about Twitter, visit their website.

Patrick McHenry Takes His Lickings But Keeps On Ticking

Patrick_mchenry Many people who call themselves concerned citizens have sent Katy's Conservative Corner this link from Blog Active, a gay and lesbian site.

The post, "Poor Pat" contains unflattering photos of Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC, 10th Dist) and descriptions of his activities on Capitol Hill.  The post also includes a copy of a deed that shows McHenry purchased a DC home with another male.  In short, the post accuses him of being gay.

Another negative site is dedicated entirely to McHenry.  See Pat Go Bye Bye is also run by leftists.  According to sources, many on the right agree, but are much too decent to put up such websites as these.

This blogger feels that Members of Congress should behave in a particular manner, and the photos on these sites suggest that perhaps McHenry might be too young or immature to handle his high office.

A significant group of Republicans have been asking McHenry to resign his congressional seat to avoid more embarrassment, but he marches on, even after insulting the security forces that were assigned to protect him during his stay in the Green Zone in Baghdad.  His opponents deemed that incident an abuse of his office.

McHenry is being challenged by Lance Sigmon in Tuesday's primary.  Your blogger has previously endorsed Sigmon in that race.

McHenry has threatened to sue Sigmon over campaign ads negative towards McHenry.

While this race has received national attention, the studying is over, and the first test is Tuesday.

The Postal Service Does It Again - Stamp Prices to Rise May 12th

600x600_676698 As if stamps weren't high enough already, the United States Postal Service is raising the price of a first class stamp to $.42, a penny higher than we are currently paying.

If you want to keep on paying the $.41 price, be sure and load up (prior to May 12th) on the "forever stamp", featuring the Liberty Bell.

These prices don't apply to this blogger's household.  Whatever the stamps cost, your blogger's husband will pay.  He's a long-time collector of stamps from all over the world.

What do you think?  Are we getting the value and service we deserve for an ever-increasing cost of a first class stamp?

Is Leadership the Issue? (Video)

This I found posted online as of earlier this week. What do you think? It was broadcast on a local Charlotte area TV station.
